Goodnight Guardians. I can't help but feel so many emotions with the Final Update of Destiny. I am beyond sad that it is over, but I am also Hopeful for the future. I have spent, practically, a quarter of my life playing this game, I've always loved bungie, throughout halo, all the way until now. 17,000 hours across two platforms. 6 years of my life, starting destiny as a young lad, and now as an adult, going through a pandemic, meeting ALL of my friends from this game, the list goes on. Without Destiny, I seriously don't think I'd be where I'm at today. so whilst this sappy love letter sounds like I'm quitting, I'm not. I'm staying here until the end. I love Destiny 2, and it is so much more then a game to me. it is one of the best things to ever happen to me. So truly, Thank you Everyone. every single guardian I have met, all the friends I have met through D2, all of these memories I will never forget, will stay with me forever. I truly wish I could explain everything i am feeling, but many of it cannot be put into words. To the Destiny 2 community, Thank you. As artists, our goal has always been to create worlds filled with wonder, mystery, beauty, and adventure. But what brings those worlds to life is you. You take our designs, our napkin sketches, our "wouldn't it be cool if..." ideas and transform them into something real. Your creativity, your passion, and your love for the game give our work purpose. We've always believed Destiny could be a place where expression is celebrated, where players can see themselves and each other in the worlds we build, where every Guardian can forge their own legend—and you proved it. Watching your Guardians grow, embrace new allies, take down bigger and badder bosses, solve mind-bending puzzles, dodge death traps, avoid Taken boopers, and overcome every Raid challenge we throw at you—all while looking incredible—has been a constant reminder of why this universe matters. You shaped it. You made it matter. You are the light of Destiny. With Monument of Triumph, we set out to create a series of love letters to Guardians, new and old. We shared a preview last week of armor inspired by early designs from the original Destiny but have also sprinkled some winks and nods throughout the rewards releasing tomorrow. We hope they feel like a small thank you for everything you’ve given us. Today, we wanted to take a moment to assure you of the future of the Bungie Foundation and properly thank you for the incredible support Guardians have given the Foundation since Destiny’s launch. To start, we want to reaffirm that the Bungie Foundation will continue its work. Our team remains committed to our mission to providing joy and relief to kids communities who need it most. From Bungie's very first fundraising campaign in response to Hurricane Katrina during the days of Halo, through all of the incredible years in Destiny and now what comes next, our success and ability to change the world has been because of the compassion and generosity of YOU, our community. Since our very first activation in D1 with the Pride of Nepal emblem 11 years ago, you helped us raise over $32 million dollars to support our Little Lights program, ID&E initiatives, and humanitarian causes. Every one of you has made an impact through your support of the Foundation and that will never change. Destiny may have been the primary game we fundraised through, but you are the heart and soul of the Bungie Foundation. Above all, it was your passion for doing good that made it possible, and we can’t wait to see how you show up for our future campaigns. We are eternally grateful for your awe-inspiring generosity, kindness and willingness to join us in trying to make the world a better place. THANK YOU. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us.
