Pressuring the STC to dissolve itself was a mistake!
Anti-government and anti-Saudi chants by @STCSouthArabia @AidrosAlzubidi supporters in Aden in southwestern Yemen signal defiance, will this unrest escalate into riots and violence, and can they sustain this momentum or if it is a one-off outburst. Governing has never been easy, and the coming days will test both the STC’s ability to mobilize and the Saudi-backed authorities’ capacity to contain tensions without escalation or security crackdowns.

The streets in Aden today speak for themselves. Power may reside in Riyadh’s decrees, but physical authority and popular mandate clearly remain on the Southern street. Any durable settlement for Yemen must reconcile these two divergent realities.

Breaking: Presidential decree from Yemen's UN-backed government strips Zubaidi of PLC membership for 'high treason.' The speed of escalation tells you how narrow the window for de-escalation has become.

This statement is issued with reference to the statement made today, Tuesday, 30th December 2025, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates regarding the ongoing developments in the Republic of Yemen, and the facts it outlined concerning the presence of the UAE Armed Forces in Yemen within the framework of the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy. The Ministry of Defence affirms that the United Arab Emirates has participated as part of the Arab Coalition since 2015 in support of legitimacy in Yemen, in backing international efforts to combat terrorist organisations, and in pursuit of security and stability for the brotherly Yemeni people. The UAE has made great sacrifices in achieving these objectives. The Ministry of Defence notes that the UAE Armed Forces concluded their military presence in the Republic of Yemen in 2019 after completing the assigned missions within the agreed official frameworks. The remaining presence was limited to specialised personnel as part of counterterrorism efforts, in coordination with relevant international partners. In light of recent developments and their potential implications for the safety and effectiveness of counterterrorism missions, the Ministry of Defence announces the termination of the remaining counterterrorism personnel in Yemen of its own volition, in a manner that ensures the safety of its personnel and in coordination with the concerned partners. The Ministry of Defence affirms that this measure comes within the context of a comprehensive assessment of the requirements of the current phase, and in line with the commitments of the United Arab Emirates and its role in supporting security and stability in the region.

For the first time, the #UAE has been accused of violating UN Security Council resolutions (2216), fueling the conflict in Yemen, and threatening regional security and stability through its support for the STC, according to the Saudi-led coalition. #Yemen
Coalition Joint Forces Conduct Limited Airstrike on Foreign Military Supplies at Mukalla Port The official spokesperson of the Coalition, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, stated that on Saturday and Sunday, December 27–28, 2025, two vessels arrived from Fujairah Port to Mukalla Port without obtaining official authorization from the Coalition Joint Forces Command. The crews of the vessels reportedly disabled their tracking systems and unloaded a significant quantity of weapons and military vehicles intended to support the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Yemen’s eastern governorates of Hadramout and Al-Mahara, aiming to fuel the conflict, which is a clear violation of the ongoing ceasefire efforts and a breach of UN Security Council Resolution 2216 (2015). Major General Al-Maliki explained that, in response to a request from the President of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and to protect civilians in Hadramout and Al-Mahara, and due to the threat posed by the weapons, the Coalition conducted a limited airstrike this morning targeting the weapons and military vehicles that had been unloaded from the two vessels at Mukalla Port. The operation was carried out after documentation and in accordance with international humanitarian law and customary rules, ensuring no collateral damage. Al-Maliki emphasized that the Coalition remains committed to de-escalation and maintaining the ceasefire in #Hadramout and Al-Mahara. The Coalition will prevent the delivery of any military support from any country to any Yemeni faction without coordination with the legitimate Yemeni government and the Coalition, supporting ongoing efforts by Saudi Arabia and the Coalition to achieve security, stability, and prevent the expansion of the conflict. Breaking 🚀🚀Saudi-led Coalition Spokesman: Unauthorized Arms Shipment from Fujairah to Mukalla Targeted in Limited Air Operation The official spokesperson for the Coalition Forces, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, stated that on Saturday and Sunday, 27–28 December 2025, two vessels arriving from Fujairah Port entered Mukalla Port without obtaining official authorization from the Coalition Joint Forces Command. The crews of both vessels deliberately disabled their tracking systems and unloaded a large quantity of weapons and combat vehicles to support the Southern Transitional Council forces in Yemen’s eastern governorates (Hadramout and al-Mahra), with the aim of fueling the conflict. He emphasized that this constitutes a clear violation of efforts to enforce de-escalation and pursue a peaceful solution, as well as a breach of UN Security Council Resolution 2216 (2015). Major General Al-Maliki explained that, based on a request from the President of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council for the Coalition Forces to take all necessary military measures to protect civilians in Hadramout and al-Mahra, and due to the serious threat these weapons posed to security and stability, Coalition air forces conducted a limited military operation this morning. The operation targeted the weapons and combat vehicles unloaded from the two vessels at Mukalla Port, following proper documentation and in full compliance with international humanitarian law and customary rules, ensuring that no collateral damage occurred. He further affirmed that the Coalition Command remains committed to reducing escalation and enforcing calm in Hadramout and al-Mahra, and to preventing the delivery of any military support from any country to any Yemeni faction without coordination with the legitimate Yemeni government and the Coalition, in order to support the Kingdom’s and the Coalition’s efforts to achieve security and stability and to prevent the expansion of the conflict.

Breaking | With high confidence, this marks the first Saudi @modgovksa airstrike targeting the Nuboub camp in Ghayl bin Yameen, Hadramawt, Yemen. The strike comes after the UAE-backed @STCSouthArabia-aligned Hadrami Elite Forces (HEF), alongside allied units, seized control of the base and expelled tribesmen linked to Amr bin Habreesh’s Hadramawt Protection Forces (HPF) and the Hadramawt Tribal Confederation (HTC).
Another unverified claim is circulating of a Saudi airstrike in Wadi Nuhoub Hadramawt, part of what has been reported almost daily for several days now without independent confirmation; while no proof has emerged, given the ongoing situation (see context below), it would not be surprising at this stage. In a separate video, the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) @STCSouthArabia is shown deploying military reinforcements to Wadi Khirad, northeast of Ash Shihr, with convoys moving from central Ash Shihr toward the valley. The area controlled by HTC/HPF is rugged desert terrain marked by eroded hills and deep wadis, making monitoring difficult due to natural concealment and limited access.
