Our discussion event yesterday was the most profound yet. 26 diverse attendees, with SO’s discussing their employment journeys/barriers, victims discussing their views, and HMPPS staff disclosing to their manager, online during our meeting, about being an ex-prisoner. Love it 😍

I see that Ian Bickers, the London regional prisons director, announced on LinkedIn last week that he had resigned from the prison service but does not have a role to go to. He was a man of great integrity and experience.

It’s inhumane and madness-inducing to keep people without a release date - behaviour WILL NEVER improve under those conditions - therefore the vicious cycle continues of no release date for the sake of ‘public protection’ at the expense of the public purse…

If you hire ex-prisoners, like I do, you might expect to have to go to court to reclaim money they stole from you occasionally. Today I won my case against a dishonest former employee...
He was the only person in the company without any prior convictions.

First day back to work yesterday. 2 hour drive to HMP Belmarsh. 2 hour wait for a client who has a rape trial on starting on Monday. The prison were unable to get him to the meeting on time. No conference. 2 hour drive back. Total pay £0.00 #thesystemisbroken
