Thank you @koconews and @KylieKOCO for highlighting the urgent need for ATV and UTV safety during National Injury Prevention Week. Oklahoma leads the nation in deaths among children under 16 on these vehicles. A DOT-approved helmet, proper protective gear, age-appropriate vehicles, and safety education can save lives and prevent life-changing injuries in Oklahoma. @Okla_Childrens @OUHealth @OUCollegeofMed @OU_Neurosurgery

Excited to see our lab being utilized in new ways. This year, we hosted our first-ever Sub-I Bootcamp, developed a neuroanatomy curriculum, and created a novel multidomain assessment framework for residency applicants. @OU_Neurosurgery Looking forward to sharing more soon.

Dr. Roberto Heros wrote his memoirs: amazon.com/VERY-FORTUNATE-LI… . I fondly remember most of his stories from residency @UMneurosurgery. He knows me better than me - “did not tolerate fools well.” Dr. Heros is the greatest; I am one of the FORTUNATE ones to call him a mentor.

💬 Viewpoint by Canio Martinelli, MD, MSc, Vincenzo Carnevale, PhD, MSc, Alfredo Ercoli, MD, PhD, and Antonio Giordano, MD, PhD: #AI yields higher empathy scores in text assessments but cannot perform clinical examination or patient care. Clinician oversight and presence remain essential in #Medicine. ja.ma/4uml3yj

The next generation of neurosurgery took the stage. The Early to Mid-Career Neurosurgeons Research Forum Featuring the Osler Lectures showcased an impressive lineup of medical student–driven research, highlighting innovation across spine, tumor, trauma and vascular neurosurgery. Paired with impactful Osler Lectures, the session created a platform for students to present, engage and contribute to the future of the field. A strong display of the talent shaping what’s next in neurosurgery. #AANS2026 @youngneuros @graffeo @gelarehzadeh

The @OU_Neurosurgery #SurgicalInnovationLaboratory is HIRING! @BesteGulsuna is irreplaceable, but we need a great neuroanatomist to try and fill her shoes... if interested, email CV dissections to christopher-graffeo@ou.edu! HUGE opportunity for research, teaching, &c

@OU_Neurosurgery welcomed Ukrainian neurosurgeons, Drs. Bohdan Sirko, Rostyslav Malyi, and Nina Izbytska, over the past month. We hope they learned from us a fraction of the information that they taught us about the management of traumatic brain injury in war! Safe travels!
