Medium chance for tropical development in the Gulf this week, especially when the low moves over water in the coming days.
Regardless of development, very heavy rain and flooding likely along parts of the northern Gulf Coast this week.
The @CBSMiami Tropics Tracker indicates the remnants of what once was Tropical Storm Cristina will likely move northwestward and move towards Mexico. NHC says a broad low pressure system has a 10% chance of development near Bay of Campeche.
TROPICAL UPDATE: We have our first official area of interest from the National Hurricane Center for the Atlantic Hurricane Season. There is a 10% chance of tropical development over the next 7 days. Regardless of development, tropical moisture is expected to impact E. Mexico.
NEW: Another M 4.3 earthquake strikes off the coast of Cuba. This is an aftershock to the strong M 6.1 earthquake which struck the same area yesterday. @CBSMiami
Per @CBSMiami, the earthquake temporarily disrupted transit service (Metromover and Metrorail) after the Stephen P. Clark Center was evacuated due to reports of building shaking. Both services have since resumed.
Severe weather is when local coverage matters most.

Great seeing @iCyclone at his Hurricane House in Mississippi this weekend!
Hurricanes, science, public safety, and building stronger communities… conversations like these are exactly why I love what I do.
I wouldn't want to be caught under the smoke plume from that junkyard fire in Opa-locka, especially with rain passing through.
Rain drops may contain whatever particles are in the smoke and bring them to the surface, potentially staining patios and leaving residue, etc.
@CBSMiami has been on the scene all evening.
