šØ Kathleen Sgamma just withdrew her nomination to lead BLMāright before her Senate hearing. Did the recently unearthed memo exposing her past criticism of Trump's election denial play a role?
š§µ1/ Kathleen Sgamma, the @realDonaldTrump pick to lead @BLMNational, privately wrote she was "disgusted" by Trump "spreading misinformation" on Jan. 6 and "dishonoring the vote of the People," per a memo to oil execs obtained by @ItsDocumented. Her Senate hearing is Thursday.

š§µ5/ Sgamma appears to have deleted or changed the name of her old Twitter account, then created a new one in Sept. 2023 using the old handle. Her old accont appears to now be here: @Wallstmemesteam
š§µ6/ A snapshot from Feb. 2021 shows Sgammaās old account had 4,360 tweets and followed 797 accounts. Her new account (started Sept. 2023) now has just 146 visible tweets and follows only 276 accounts.
š§µ7/ Environmental groups strongly oppose Sgamma. Taylor McKinnon @publiccarbon of the Center for Biological Diversity @CenterForBioDiv called her nomination an "unmitigated disaster," citing her "breathtaking disdain" for protecting public lands.
š§µ3/ At @BLMNational, Sgamma would oversee 246M acres of public land. She previously argued there's "too much federal ownership," raising alarm she'll seek large-scale privatizationābenefiting oil & gas firms and worsening climate change. (via @JamesCTobias & @c_m_dangelo)
The Heritage Foundation - the lead org behind Project 2025 - is now promoting new model state legislation that would criminalize orgs providing legal or financial assistance to people without legal status to be in the US. Under the act, any org found guilty would lose all state and city licenses to operate. #immigrationlaws#Project2025
My new op-ed in @RollingStone:
Elon Muskās stunning political influence offers a stark example of how the Supreme Courtās Citizens United decisionāwhich turns 15 this weekāenabled billionaires to wield disproportionate power over policy and governance.
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are set to meet privately with Republican members of the House and Senate next week to discuss their plans to slash federal spending (ie cuts to social spending). Invitation obtained by @ItsDocumented
