This full-fledged, physics-based and data-driven concept will eventually replace the "greenhouse theory" of climate change, which was proposed as a pure conjecture more than 120 years ago, and is now falsified by modern satellite observations from projects such as NASA CERES (ceres.larc.nasa.gov/): Peer-reviewed Scientific Papers: - 2014. Recent warming (since 1980) was caused by a reduction of cloud albedo, not increase of CO2. The NASA CERES data are very clear about this! No CO2 signal in the CERES data since 2000. Read this 2024 paper: mdpi.com/2673-7418/4/3/17

The real driver of Earth's paleoclimate, which is changes in atmospheric mass and mean surface air pressure, is numerically explained in this thread: x.com/NikolovScience/status/…

🧵NEW STRONG Evidence that changes of atmospheric mass and surface pressure have been the driver of Earth's paleoclimate, not CO2 and not Sun's luminosity. This graph compares changes in the Latitudinal Temperature Gradient (LTG) over the Cenozoic Era (past 66 My) derived from oxygen 18 (δ18O) in planktonic foraminifera sediments with the LTG evolution predicted by the extended Nikolov-Zeller (NZ) Planetary Temperature Model assuming pressure as a driver of Earth's paleoclimate. The close agreement between the proxy-based record and model simulations indicates that the observed increase of LTG over the past 66 My was indeed caused by depressurization of the Earth surface due to loss of atmospheric mass. The proxy-based LTG record is from Gaskell et al. (2022: pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.21…). The NZ model predictions are completely independent of the Gaskell et al. temperature records! The method employed to model LTG is described in the posts below...

🚨The lack of evidence that CO2 has been a driver of Earth's paleoclimate is openly published in mainstream journals such as Science, but never explicitly acknowledge by the authors of the papers! This 2023 paper presents the most comprehensive proxy-based record of atmospheric CO2 during the Cenozoic Era (past 66 My): science.org/doi/10.1126/scie… A large team of authors called "The Cenozoic CO2 Proxy Integration Project (CenCO2PIP) Consortium" really tried to show that CO2 was responsible for the huge transition (cooling) of Earth's climate for the past 66 My. However, their Fig. 3 (shown below) reveals a total lack of a consistent relationship between atmospheric CO2 and Global Temperature. Note these features in Fig. 3: - The estimated Equilibrium System Sensitivity (ESS) to CO2 (illustrated by the slopes of the thick black lines) is all over the place. One would not expect such a large variation of the effect of a physical forcing, if that forcing was real. The CO2 "radiative forcing" is model-generated, not real, but most paleo-climatologists don't know that! - ESS reduces to ZERO during the Oligocene and Miocene period of 28.6 My, where CO2 varies by a factor of 2.5 times compared to the preindustrial level, while the Global Temperature remains virtually unchanged (see beige- and orange-colored dots). Why do mainstream climate scientists keep fooling themselves that a minor trace gas like CO2 was controlling Earth's paleoclimate on time sales of tens of millions of years? Isn't that ridiculous at this point!

Note that the above 2023 paper (science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…) does not address the most fundamental feature of Erath's paleoclimate during the Cenozoic Era, which is the large increase of the Latitudinal Temperature Gradient (LTG) over the past 66 My. Can the change of LTG be explained by CO2? Of course, not!

Denis, I looked at your paper... It makes the same algorithmic mistake as the IPCC models but in a much simpler context. You failed to couple radiative transfer to convective heat exchange in a single system of simultaneous equations, and as a result arrived at the WRONG solution! Your conclusion that a CO2 doubling would cause 1.4 C global warming is total nonsense (as are similar predictions by the IPCC models), because CO2 does not add energy to the system and cannot trap heat, since the atmosphere has no lid and is OPEN to Space (open systems do not trap heat as this would violate the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics).🙂

Understanding paleoclimate is key, because it reveals that Earth's climate has NEVER been controlled by so-called "greenhouse gases". The claim that recent warming was caused by GHG is not only based on a wrong 19th-Century theory, but is also refuted by modern NASA observations. See this paper: mdpi.com/2673-7418/4/3/17

Denis, this is not a proposal. It's a numerical fact based on real data. Study this: x.com/NikolovScience/status/… Your notion that radiation balance explains 100% of planetary temperatures is INCORRECT. That's because radiation exchange accounts for diabatic processes only, while the atmospheric system also has adiabatic processes operating in the vertical and related to changes of pressure with altitude. Clearly, you are not versed in atmospheric thermodynamics. Before voicing further uninformed opinions, I would suggest that you study our papers & videos linked to the above post.

Many people including PhD scientists have a hard time changing their preconceived views about physical phenomena based on new data! Our new concept about Earth's paleoclimate having been driven by pressure changes has exceptional numerical support from the geological proxy record. Yet, many researchers cannot follow this new evidence, because they were never taught in school that pressure can drive climate.

Here is a summary of our numerical proof that Earth's paleoclimate has been driven by changes in the mean surface atmospheric pressure rather than an imaginary "CO2 forcing" or contrived positive feedbacks as advocated by IPCC.

🚨MORE EVIDENCE that Earth's paleoclimate has been driven by changes in total atmospheric mass and surface pressure rather than CO2. The NZ planetary temperature Model, which depends on total pressure as a driver of the Atmospheric Thermal Effect, was able to reproduce accurately the relationship between Global Temperature (GT) and the Latitudinal Temperature Gradient (LTG) inferred from geological records based on d18O proxies over the past 93 My. The attached graph compares the GT-LTG relationship derived from proxies reported by Gaskell et al. (2022: pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.21…) with a GT-LTG relationship independently predicted by the NZ Model for the past 93 My assuming that atmospheric pressure was the driver of Earth's past climate. This is a breakthrough finding and a strong proof for the correctness of the Nikolov-Zeller hypothesis!
