Legacy has become one of the biggest scams in ag. If you’re under 45 and don’t have a clear path yet go start your own thing. You can take just as much pride in that. Waiting till you’re 50-55 to run an operation working for a family trust and off farm siblings is not a legacy

2. I’ll elaborate. Ag industry glorifies legacy making young people fell they owe it to the family farm to come back and wait their turn if they want to farm. It looks 50/50 if that works out in their favor. If your aren’t able to take the first opportunity that comes your way

3. And work that along side family farm, if that opportunity is met with pushback by family farm or they think it should be theirs then that is not a good sign. Break the legacy handcuffs and take that opportunity or go find another one, your next 20 years will be more productive

This is especially for those that have: 1) minors as beneficiaries, 2) spendthrift beneficiaries, 3) beneficiaries with addictions, etc.
