Detroit is one of the music capitals of the worldāthe birthplace of Motown, techno and so much more. We are home to thousands of musicians who deserve fair compensation for their work. I introduced legislation to make sure streaming services are paying musicians properly.

Apparently the new Netflix show about Spotify uses our Justice at Spotify action as a storyline, and underlines the fact that Daniel Ek believes itās not his responsibility to pay artists fairly. The show creates a fictitious future that shows the UMAW equivalent succeeding!

With the ongoing pandemic, artists are putting their lives at risk for booking nightmares and incurring thousands of dollars of tour debt.
Santigold is correct. The struggles of touring are rarely ever spoken of. Hoping more big acts will take a stance.

Musicians receive less than a penny per stream on average. So we are introducing a resolution that would create a new mandatory streaming royalty that would be paid directly to musicians.
