I asked
@JayBilas what the argument is for Darius Acuff to be the #1 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft:
“He’s a walking bucket. Like the way he scores and how tough he is, he’s got those chest-down drives. He’s built differently than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but like those chest-down drives that those guys get, it reminded me a little bit of him. But, you know, you watch him in person and you’re like, ‘My God, who’s going to stop this guy?’ He’s scoring in the 30s, the 40s. And, you know, it’s just a stat, but, the first player to lead the SEC in scoring and assists, Maravich did it. That stands out. And in the SEC tournament, I mean, he was not good. He was great. And you’re thinking, how high is this ceiling going to be? And he’s really competitive because he was hurt. Like he played most of the year injured. He’d be in a boot during the week and then not really able to practice that much. And then he plays his tail off in the games. Really, really impressive.”
