Chanukah starts on Sunday‽ That’s so early! For real, though. December 2 is 80% earlier than most Chanukahs. My latest side project: isyontefearlythisyear.com

This account, which I haven’t used in several weeks, will likely get banned soon because my name and profile tell you where to find me. So…now would be the time to find me there. 😬

I use \times because \LaTeX, but xx does seem more convenient

Per @Mantia, might I interest you in an xx to × replacement shortcut?

I’ve had an Aranet4 CO₂ sensor for 24 hours, and it’s already terrifyingly clear that there are privacy implications. Feels like ML could infer so many things: room occupancy, door and window open/closed, I think even whether my nextdoor neighbor (apartment building) is home.

I just breathed an audible sigh of relief.

🌌‼️ It's one of the biggest, greatest updates that we've ever done for our Mac code editor Nova. It totally overhauls how we handle languages. It adds a brand new comparison/diff view. And, just for fun, it has some great new dock icons. Nova 10 is here. nova.app/

Got a nebulizer in the mail today and ran this procedure. Both N95 (3M Aura 9205 ) KN95 (Powecom, earloops) failed. This was not surprising because of my beard. What was surprising was that the N95 failed worse than the KN95. I’ll try again with a much shorter beard soon-ish.

Perhaps I shouldn’t be so surprised since my understanding is that KN95 is harder to breathe _through_ but is more forgiving of leaks around, whereas N95 is easier to breathe through but has less tolerance for the seal.

Extremely satisfying ☺️ Reminds me of that time in like 2009 when @annakjonsson and I went to the Ann Arbor Reuse Center just to play with old buttons and switches.

My shul is running a program for newlyweds called After I Do, and, uh, there is no “I do” at a Jewish wedding 🤨

90 posts is just about the threshold where I need to decide whether it makes more sense to manually edit the yaml frontmatter or write a script to do it. I’m gonna write a script, aren’t I. It’s gonna take longer, isn’t it.

Pharmacies and urgent care places should offer qualitative mask fit tests. I’d rather pay $10 for a well-done test with a hood and Bitrex than ordering a sketchy nebulizer online and using Sweet’N Low. @Walgreens @CVSHealth @MWexpclinics

Fun fact: that screenshot is showing the RF environment at my house. (The main thing I’ve been working on is out!) prosoundweb.com/shure-launch…

I long to go to shul, go to the theater, and eat indoors at restaurants. At least I might feel comfortable doing the first two things if I could get my masks fit tested. Indoor dining? No idea if/when I might do that again 😭

Does any have recommendations for nebulizers to use for DIY fit testing? If I’m going to be relying on 1-way masking, I want to know it’s working. @masknerd

I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m trying to get a sense of whether WebC is a plausible replacement for Lit. Dynamic attributes and render functions suggest maybe? @zachleat
