Only the older generation will recognize this one.
Beach-Head, published in 1983 by Access Software, is one of the tougher C64 games I have played back in the day. I was 8 or 9 when I first gave it a shot, so maybe that was part of the reason but even in my teenage years I still struggled to get to that final mega-bunker/fortress monstrosity at the end.
Beach-Head was commercially successful back in the day, selling around quarter of a million copies, an excellent number for that era.
Bruce Carver went on to also make Raid over Moscow one year later - another classic of 80s gaming history, and one that was equally hard (the hangar sequence still gives me PTSD). I think in terms of design and gameplay you can see how the 2 games are related, the vibe feels similar.
