The Reform/Tory right sat and watched the Tories drive this country into a ditch for 14 yrs. Spiralling taxes, immigration and cost of living. Infrastructure crumbling. Then within a yr of Labour they’re suddenly mad as hell and marching in the streets. Partisan, tribal politics.

Tories housed immigrants in Britannia hotels, nobody cared. Suddenly, under Labour, it’s an issue. We constantly underestimate how much “anti immigration” focussed activity is actually generated by right wingers who have simply lost their minds over losing to Labour in GE.

Never watched a single show with Greg Wallace in & never knew who he was / his name before scandal broke, largely because I’m *instinctively* ick about mediocre middle aged men with low key but very obvious creep vibes, so avoid Saturday Kitchen etc like plague.

Interesting that nobody at any point has ever questioned the gender of Liverpool attacker. Everybody automatically just assumes it’s a man, and it is a man. The single identity characteristic shared by literally every mass attacker, and it’s treated as a non-issue.

Unless you dip into online Reform right socials occasionally you have no idea how obsessed they are with immigration. It’s the only thing they care about. Zero interest in any other aspect of how a country is run. Everything else, if discussed at all, is through that lens.

My observation as a teacher & parent is that have an epidemic of parents who have opted out of the hard work of parenting. Parents who don’t enjoy being parents because they can’t be bothered to parent, and consequently are raising unlikable kids they don’t like being around.

So yes they’re angry about brown people and immigrants and woke. But more than anything they’re angry that they can’t point at the U.K. gov’t as evidence that they are on the winning side. They’re angry because they lost a game which they had their whole identities in.

Is it me or is the rhetoric of right wing accounts just apocalyptic in ways that simply doesn’t chime with reality? This is a moderate, barely left wing gov’t, and they scream like it’s the communist death of U.K. What language do they use if something *actually* seismic occurs?
