advocating w/o pay is hard to justify when the bills come. you try to be a voice for those who cant attend but end up being one of them when you can't afford it anymore.

It's the first day of the World Cup and fans are lining up to get into FIFA Fan Festival in EaDo for a spot to see Mexico take on South Africa! If you're heading to Fan Festival at any point during the World Cup, here's what you need to know about parking. khou.com/article/sports/socc…

EMS is gonna have to work for those raises when people are fainting.
Tried walking from downtown to the FIFA Fan Fest. Got rerouted by construction like 4 times. It’s very hot. I’m sure none of the bajillion tourists will have a hard time tho

this! we're so behind on sewer projects
It's been said that the water utility is flush with cash and can therefore absorb the cost of subsidizing solid waste. The reality is that the fund appears stronger than it is because we've deferred infrastructure projects that have been mandated by the federal government.

I remember when @DowntownHouston had this
"BUS BIKE ONLY" This is a great option when there isn't space for bike lanes on a transit corridor. There will be gaps between buses, which the space a nice option for people riding bikes.

fun fact: in New York City, emergency vehicles literally use the bike lanes to get out of gridlock. Well-protected bike lanes can serve as an emergency lane that actually reduces response times. don’t believe me? here’s proof from last week
Serious question: What happens when an ambulance or fire truck can’t get through because the street has been narrowed down to a single lane for bike infrastructure? Look at this mess. Who thought this was a good idea?

Shout out to the predecessor of this office for starting this and having vision for public ROW where cars aren't a priority.
The Main Street Promenade is open! More trees, greenery, and safer, pedestrian-friendly spaces Downtown. As we prepare for FIFA, we’re delivering lasting investments for Houston: $500M invested, 400 miles paved, major drainage and sidewalk upgrades, new parks, and 7,000 trees

in the mayors judgement, he's on course for a great re-election. 😬
Houstonians have given City Hall a pretty clear roadmap. Nearly 80% of respondents in the 2026 Your Two Cents survey said they want MORE investment in infrastructure—roads, drainage, pipes—the systems that actually keep the city running.

How are different cities preparing for the World Cup? - Los Angeles opened a new subway line - Kansas City is operating special buses - Houston is flying stray dogs and cats to Minnesota Read about that last one in the next tweet.

I have lived for 25 years in a large city without a car and apparently a bunch of you find this to be physically impossible, so go ahead and ask me anything

sad that it took a world cup to get them installed after years of advocating for light fixtures...
Love to see a community safety initiative with tangible benefits!
