My top 10 N64 games. And Goldeneye isn't in the top three. It's at 5. Four games beat it and I'll defend every one. Most "Top 10" lists are the same four Nintendo first-party titles everyone copied off a 1999 GameFAQs thread and never thought about again. Mine isn't that. Top 10 N64 Games🕹️⬇️

I'm fairly certain this is rage bait. But I'll bite. Michael Jordan is the greatest to ever play. That's not up for debate. LeBron isn't in my top 25. Drexler, Penny, Pippen, Reggie, Grant Hill all rank higher. Game 5, 1999, Kings vs Jazz. Chris Webber swings his elbows to clear space and catches John Stockton flush in the face. Stockton takes it and keeps running the offense. Bill Walton, calling Game 7 of the '97 Rockets-Sonics series, said while Mario Elie was complaining after Gary Payton hit him with his arm in the face: "Elbows are part of the game of basketball. I had my nose broken 13 times and my teeth knocked out 10 times." Prime LeBron doesn't survive seven games of prime Dennis Rodman. He folds. Hand checking was legal until 2004. The league legislated the contact out of the game. The modern league isn't tougher. It's protected.
Probably the best way iv heard someone settle the LeBron v Jordan debate

A recap of everything I added this week. TMNT II: The Arcade Game was the standout. Best beat 'em up on the NES, and I got it boxed. The rest covered just about every system I collect for. Genesis, Dreamcast, Saturn, N64, PS1, PS2, Xbox, plus a run of loose NES carts. Earthworm Jim, Street Fighter III, X-Men: Children of the Atom, Crazy Taxi, WCW/nWo Revenge. Good week to be a collector.

I'm dropping Zelda Ocarina of Time. Not only is this the most overrated franchise in the history of gaming, it's not even the best Zelda game on the N64.
Which one is gone?

I was reorganizing the Xbox 360 section on my gaming shelf today and it hit me: Xbox hasn't been the same since the 360. Halo 3, Gears, Mass Effect, plus Call of Duty and Battlefield in their prime, all on one machine. I sank thousands of hours into these games, especially Halo 3 and Reach multiplayer. Those days are long gone. This was the golden era of modern gaming. I don't even have Game Pass to play online anymore because it isn't worth it. The last midnight launch I ever went to was Arkham Knight in 2015. Microsoft hasn't given me a reason to stand in a parking lot since.

I put the whole argument into an article. Why the 360 was the last time Xbox got it right. Check out my latest Substack article right here. nostalgiapro.substack.com/p/…

The ultimate 16-bit rivalry in a single photo. Street Fighter II vs Mortal Kombat. Capcom gave us flawless mechanics and perfectly balanced rosters. Midway gave us pure shock value and a reason to hide the screen from our parents. One earned your respect. The other one earned your allowance.

I accidentally walked into a game store today.😂🤷‍♂️ Went into a collectibles shop looking for something else entirely. Walked out with a CIB copy of Urban Strike for the Genesis. The Strike Trilogy is now complete.

After yesterday's massive haul, this is where my video game shelf stands: 749 total physical games. Top 10 consoles by count: NES: 94 (51 CIB) Xbox: 90 (82 CIB) Genesis: 74 (64 CIB) SNES: 64 (34 CIB) Xbox 360: 64 (55 CIB) PS1: 55 (52 CIB) N64: 44 (16 CIB) GameCube: 41 (40 CIB) PS2: 39 (36 CIB) PS3 / Xbox One: 26 each I spent a good chunk of time the last couple of weeks reorganizing this entire shelf. All it took was a few new Genesis pickups to run the section out of space.😂

The Nostalgia Pro is now a four platform operation. X, YouTube, Substack, and as of today, TikTok! Started it off with the TMNT II arcade port on NES, more of the collection going up from here.

Just crossed 150 subscribers on YouTube!🎉 Started this with zero experience, just pointing a phone at my game collection because I wanted to. No idea anyone would actually want to watch that. Apparently there's quite a few people who do actually want to watch this stuff. Those of you that have subscribed, thank you! Glad to have you along for this.🫶

Alright, here's everything I picked up today. 3 stores. 24 games. 1 orange Zapper. I might have gone a little overboard.😂 The TMNT II box and that complete Star Wars on NES alone made the whole day worth it. Total physical game count: 749.

Last stop of the day: The Gaming Zone in Phoenix. 🎮 Star Wars (NES) 🎮 Mortal Kombat II (SNES) 🎮 TMNT: Tournament Fighters (Genesis) 🎮 Super WrestleMania (Genesis) 🎮 Superman (Genesis) 🎮 Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition (Genesis) 🎮 WrestleMania: The Arcade Game (PS1) 🎮 WCW/nWo Thunder (PS1) 🎮 X-Men: Children of the Atom (Sega Saturn, Japanese import) 🎮 The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction (Xbox) Three WCW games and two WrestleMania games in one day of hunting. I didn't plan a wrestling theme. The wrestling theme found me. Total physical game count: 749.
Second stop of the day: Fallout Games in North Phoenix. The damage: 🎮 TMNT II: The Arcade Game (NES) 🎮 TMNT 3: Mutant Nightmare (GameCube) 🎮 Quake II (N64) 🎮 Final Doom (PS1) 🎮 Batman & Robin (PS1) TMNT II was the number one target on my list today. I fed countless quarters into the arcade cabinet as a kid, and now the NES version finally has a home next to the rest of my Turtles collection. Also grabbed Quake on N64 loose this morning at stop one, then found Quake II at stop two. The whole N64 Quake set in a single day of hunting. Total physical game count: 739.

Decided to leave the house today and go retro game hunting. First stop: Rampage Games in Phoenix. The damage: 🎮 Quake (N64) 🎮 WCW/nWo Revenge (N64) 🎮 WCW Mayhem (N64) with the original Blockbuster rental sticker still on it 🎮 Earthworm Jim (Genesis) 🎮 The Hulk (Xbox) 🎮 Contra: Shattered Soldier (PS2) 🎮 Batman Vengeance (PS2) 🎮 Crazy Taxi (Dreamcast) 🎮 Street Fighter III: Double Impact (Dreamcast) That Mayhem cart was rented from a Blockbuster on Camelback Road 25 years ago and somehow ended up in my hands today. Nobody ever returned it, and now it's going to live on my shelf. This brings my total physical game count to 734.

Nintendo Direct day. No better time to finish my N64 ranking. The top 10 is locked. Here's 20 through 11. And this is where it gets uncomfortable, because some of the most worshipped carts Nintendo ever shipped never cracked my top 10. Ocarina is in here. So is Mario Kart. Reputation didn't get a vote. Time played did.

12. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Here it is. A good game. A genuinely good game. Not the greatest of all time. Not even my favorite on the console. Zelda is the most overrated name in gaming, and this is exhibit A. Good. Just not untouchable.

11. Super Mario 64 The game that taught every 3D title how to move. I will never argue its importance. But importance and fun aren't the same thing, and I reach for a dozen other carts before this one. Historic. Not my number one.

That's 20 through 11. Here's the logic, since it always comes up. I don't rank by review scores. I don't rank by what's "important." I rank by the carts I kept coming back to. Hours in the controller. Not headlines. That's why Extreme-G beats Mario Kart. That's why Ocarina is good and not gospel. That's why a wrestling game outranks Donkey Kong 64 and Rogue Squadron. Reputation is borrowed. Time played is earned.
