Death and suffering on both sides of this conflict must be deplored. But nothing can be gained from the continued bombing of civilians. There must be an immediate and sustained ceasefire in Gaza. Standing by patients is our basic act of solidarity. This is how we defend humanity.
The US veto stands in contrast to the values it professes to uphold. By continuing to provide diplomatic cover for the atrocities in #Gaza, the US is signaling that international humanitarian law can be applied selectively - that the lives of some people matter less than others.
This morning, one of our staff members in #Gaza told us:
“There are dead people on the streets. We see people being shot at. We can see injured people. We hear them crying for help, but we cannot do anything. It is too dangerous to go outside”
"You need that fuel to run generators for life saving medical equipment."
There is a lack of painkillers.
Access to supplies means life or death at this point.
We're deeply concerned for the fate of everyone in Gaza right now.
BREAKING: We are horrified by the recent bombing of Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, which was treating patients and hosting displaced Gazans.
Hundreds of people have reportedly been killed.
This is a massacre. It is absolutely unacceptable.
No graduate student worker should be living in poverty while the University of Michigan sits atop a $17 billion endowment. These 2,500 workers deserve safe working conditions and living wages. The University must bargain a fair contract immediately.
Striking grads are rallying outside the @UMichgradschool. Rackham needs to pay grads a living wage, not just line the pockets of fat cat admin!
You don't mess with GEO!
ALT Grads smile as the fat cat is raised outside the rackham grad school
