Today, I signed an Executive Order strengthening how our military handles sexual assault and serious offenses.
Ending gender-based violence has been a priority for me throughout my career.
This represents a turning point for survivors of gender-based violence in the military.

In FY22, the military received 8,942 reports of sexual assault. This is a 1% increase since FY21. However, in a survey conducted by the DOD, 35,875 service members indicated experiencing unwanted sexual contact in the past year. Only 25% of these incidents were actually reported.
