As Sir David Attenborough turns 100 today, here's his memo from December 1966 as Controller of BBC2 to Dennis Scuse at Television Enterprises, turning down the idea that Terry Nation's planned colour Dalek series could find a home on his channel.

Another bit of lovely colourisation from the magic wand of Mr Hickman!
Here’s a restored and colourised set photo from #DoctorWho and the Nightmare Begins: a Varga plant and Brett’s Outer Space Radio on the sandy (and blanket-y) floor of TC3 on Friday 22nd October 1965.

Aww, I've only just heard that the lovely House of Cards trilogy director, Paul Seed, died a few weeks ago. It was his appearance as the Graff Vynda-K in The Ribos Operation that led Graham Williams to assist him in getting onto the BBC directors' course.

One thing that The Nightmare Begins really highlights is just how big the step-down in quality was between material originally shot on 35mm > videotape > 16mm film recording. Just how amazing would everything look if all the film inserts up to The Web of Fear had been kept?

Aww. Finally we get to see Devil's Planet and we find out that we always saw far more of the Screamers in the blurry photo we had for years than we do in the actual episode! 🤣

Just a few more hours until two "new" episodes of The Daleks' Master Plan are available to view. That said, I'm still bitter about the fact that we never got to see the pilot's "space playing cards" that were supposed to appear in Day of Armageddon! 😁

Does anyone know if AI is currently able to untangle old 1960s out-of-phase film inserts? 😀

Ah, so that's the image that's being referred to here. Nice to finally see it after all these years!

Can anyone recall the link that takes you to the 1960s Australian censorship records for Doctor Who? I'm sure I had it somewhere, but I'll be blowed if I can find it!

Having listened to Tim, Toby and Gavin's effusive joy about all the wonderful things that these two episodes provide, I can't help but wonder, once all the silliness of Spooner's The Chase II episodes were over, just how much of a visual treat the final episode would have been...

Hiya. Here’s a new #DoctorWho colourisation/restoration of another of those lovely Don Smith/Radio Times ‘Enemy of the World’ snaps: Debbie Watling, Frazer Hines & Patrick Troughton in the dunes at Climping Beach in early November 1967. PS: Nice about Master Plan innit?

The clip of DMP1 on BBC Breakfast gives us our first look the magnetic chair that Vyon is stuck to. Loose Cannon imagined it as a normal wooden chair in their recon of 2003. Ian Levine's AI version just lifted directly from the LC recon and sat someone completely different in it!
