Today marks 41 years since the death of Sir John Charnley, the father of modern hip replacement. He was born and educated in Bury, Northern England. The influence of his work is huge - worldwide, more than a million people undergo hip replacement every year.

The Newark elective Orthopaedic hub will allow us the treat more patients locally and across @NHSNotts reducing the risk of on the day cancellation due to emergency work, winter pressure and improve patient experience. Looking forward to my shoulder procedures tommorow.....

Teams across Newark Hospital have welcomed the first patients to our new, state-of-the-art operating theatre. Five patients, who received total hip replacements yesterday, were all discharged today🥳 We wish them a speedy recovery - thank you to everyone who made this possible!
