Today marks 41 years since the death of Sir John Charnley, the father of modern hip replacement. He was born and educated in Bury, Northern England. The influence of his work is huge - worldwide, more than a million people undergo hip replacement every year.
After moving onto our new library system, the self-service machine is now up & running again! Please call to collect a barcode if you would like to use it. Alas, the old barcodes didn't transfer across so if you had one previously, you will need to collect a new one too! @SFHFT

Teams across Newark Hospital have welcomed the first patients to our new, state-of-the-art operating theatre. Five patients, who received total hip replacements yesterday, were all discharged today🥳 We wish them a speedy recovery - thank you to everyone who made this possible!
