On the coldest night of the year, UoN evicted its own students from a peaceful protest with bailiffs, spending over £100,000 in total to silence descent... The fight against injustice will never end! We will continue until UoN stops taking blood money from the arms trade! 🇵🇸✊

Yesterday at Sussex Uni. Pathetically fragile @UKLabour MP for Kemptown @chriswardmp can't handle being questioned by students about his support for genocidal Israel.

Students voted to implement a Cops off Campus motion to be implemented in the Students Union. So glad to see the Students Union upholding 'democracy', while the University furthers its relationship with the institutionally racist and sexist police force. - 'Keeping us Safe' 🤣
Yesterday, @nottspolice Chief Constable and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner explored our Rights Lab’s groundbreaking research on modern slavery and met with our Community Engagement team & @UoNSU leaders to discuss initiatives to build strong and safe communities. #WeAreUoN

We chose to honour the fallen in our decampment process one month ago. Palestinian suffering is a daily reminder for why we started this protest and why we continue. They are not numbers and should be remembered. (1/2)

So much love and solidarity to our friends from @reclaimthepower who have been arrested ahead of the camp against climate criminal #DRAX who burn trees for energy. Shame on the police, who use far-right violence as an excuse for 1/2 freedomnews.org.uk/2024/08/0…

We ran the far-right out of Nottingham! Over 250 anti-fascists gathered in a show of force against racists trying to claim our streets. We faced them down until they had to flee in a police van. And our sheer size deterred their other extremist friends from joining them. ✊🏽

'Put the racists in the van' - The racists were then put in the van. Nottingham stood together as hundreds today against a dozen fascists.

Many students who fight for social justice studied at the University while Agnes was President of the local UCU Branch. Agnes was a huge contribution to our community. Many of us were brought into campaigning due to Agnes' compassion and willingness to listen.

'I was happy to see how people's right to free speech was being upheld, whatever my thoughts on what was being said'. They were shouting slurs and throwing glass bottles that hit people's heads. Both sides are bad journalism, when the far right are enacting racist violence...

All arrested were fascists trying to actively harm people. There is no debating racism and fascism on our streets, we protect our communities no matter the cost. The police said they didn't have the officers available to stop them from throwing glass bottles.

Considering there was a single line of police officers attempting to stop coked up violent thugs, I wouldn't exactly say they did a great job. I've seen more policing of peaceful Palestine protests in Nottingham. I imagine the far right feel emboldened by the police response.

Absolutely shameful coverage of Saturdays far right protest in Nottingham Post. Violence came entirely from the right, who threw glass bottles at us, and it never mentions that the only people arrested were far right. An absolute joke if you consider their actions “civilised”
