Dr. Snow Daws grew up in High Point and went to Duke University for undergrad where she played on the varsity soccer team. While she was always interested in medicine, it wasn't until she sustained several injuries that required surgery as a young soccer player that she found herself interested in orthopedics. Now, Dr. Daws is an orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty in foot & ankle surgery. Despite being a foot surgeon, Dr. Daws loves working with her hands in the operating room. She said, "There is so much immediate gratification in orthopedic surgery and I love being able to directly address patient’s problems and provide them with a fix. I get so much happiness from taking care of people and helping improve their quality of life."

Whenever you’re spending time outside be sure to take these precautions to avoid #tickbites:⁣ ⁣ 🌳 Apply insect repellent containing DEET to exposed skin and clothing. ⁣ 🥾 Wear clothing and gear, such as boots, long pants, long sleeve shirts and socks. ⁣ ⛺️ Shower as soon as possible after coming indoors to wash off and more easily find ticks. ⁣ 🌳 Conduct a full-body tick check using a hand-held or full-length mirror to view all parts of your body. ⁣ 🥾 Make sure your pets are treated monthly with #fleaandtick protection. novanthealth.org/healthy-hea…

Your legs can tell you a lot about your heart and vascular health. Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) occurs when plaque builds up in the arteries and reduces blood flow to the legs and feet. It’s more common than many people realize — and often goes undiagnosed until symptoms become severe. The good news: PAD is highly manageable when caught early and easy lifestyle changes can help. Vascular surgeon Dr. Christopher Wixon wants individuals to watch for these warning signs: 🚩 Cramping or fatigue in your calves, thighs or buttocks when walking that improves quickly with rest. 🚩 Ulcers that won’t heal. 🚩 Pain in your toes at night. 🚩 Discoloration of your feet. Seek care right away if you experience sudden leg pain, numbness or discoloration.
