(I'm sorry for the extremely long tweet, but this is something I've noticed....)
Now that I've been streaming for a while I started to notice something. This is something I feel like all small content creators must hear, since it'll help you mature as a creator, but....
I recently started seeing some of my friends hanging out with other people, and I'm happy for them. Genuinely, they're all having fun and I like being in their chats. After all, that's how some of my friendships started. What I'm starting to notice with some of these streamers (not just Vtubers or PNGTubers) is that they get mad or jealous when "their" friends hang out with someone else. I'll even admit that I've fallen victim to these feelings once or twice, but I've always held back because of something my dad told me about when I was growing up.
A bit of lore about me, but growing up I never went to school parties. I've never been to a friends house, and I've only had one friend come over from school to hang out irl. SO, I mean it when I say that I grew up with no friends.... and now I'm surrounded by them. I have friends in all sorts of niches and sizes, but the point that I'm trying to make is this: "Just because your friends are having fun with someone else doesn't mean less for you, it means more for them...."
I realize that it's a quote from Kung Fu Panda 3, but my dad loved watching movies with me and my bothers growing up.
Essentially what it means is, if you really are jealous or if you really are mad, then just think of it through their point of view. They're having fun, which is a good thing. They'll come around and hang out with you again, but you need to let them spread their wings even if they grow faster than you do.
At the end of the day, they are still your friend, and if you truly feel like something must be heard then MAKE IT HEARD. Your friends, so you should always talk about it privately. That's what makes friendships grow!
(Again, I'm really sorry for the long tweet, I just thought this was something that needed to be said as not just friends but other smaller creators have been struggling with drama.)
