What Magic Eden did was shit, no doubt about it. But when you look at the state of this ecosystem right now… are we really surprised they walked away?

You can’t fund infrastructure with vibes. With @MagicEden stepping back from Ordinals, my heart loves the idea of upcoming independent marketplaces rising up everywhere. Different teams. Different visions. Everyone building. That’s the romantic version. But remove emotion for a second… The space isn’t big enough. It isn’t liquid enough. It isn’t mainstream enough. Fragmenting already thin liquidity across multiple marketplaces doesn’t strengthen Ordinals, it spreads it thinner. What this ecosystem likely needs now is 1–2 serious marketplaces with: • Real market share • Real liquidity • Real infrastructure • Real reach • Real connections • Real long-term commitment to Ordinals Because devs, servers, support and marketing don’t run on hope. This isn’t a knock on anyone building, builders are essential! 🙌🏽 I genuinely hope one of the upcoming marketplaces grows into exactly what the space needs. But sustainability comes before romance.
