"Cuckoo spit" is a protective layer produced by froghopper nymphs. In Assamese folklore, it's said to be the spit of the "Jokhini" - a female spirit that lives in forests and preys on abusive men. Not quite #BotanicalGothic , perhaps, but #GothicNature .

See, a proper book, (little book, but a proper one) with an ISBN number and everything. Cover reveal and ordering details coming soon-ish. And yes, there is an-anti piracy, anti LLM curse embedded in the text. It is Hookland – you'd expect nothing less.

ELF RING A circle of mushrooms known as an 'elf ring' from Kate Greenaway 1905. The girl is tentatively stepping into the elf ring wherein she could be transported to the otherworld, or be made to dance by fairies until she dies of exhaustion!

GOTHIC NATURE Tentacled ivy reclaims the dead at Highgate Cemetery. The #Gothic fusion of living vines, ancient tombs & enduring angels is beautifully dark & evocative of transgressing boundaries between life and death, new and old worlds
