Plans have been unveiled to add elaborate terrazzo floors throughout the concourses of the new OKC arena. @okcthunder The design by local artist Matt Goad is part of OKC’s 1% for Art ordinance, which requires all municipal projects to set aside 1% of the total budget for public art installations. Goad also designed the beautiful terrazzo floors in the expanded sections of Will Rogers Airport. The arena, dubbed Continental Coliseum, is scheduled to open in the middle of 2028.

Installation is almost complete on "Kicks 66", a massive 35-foot-tall, illuminated red cowboy boot sculpture in Oklahoma City celebrating the 100th anniversary of Route 66. Designed by local artist Cameron Eagle, the 6-ton aluminum monument features the stitched lyric, "Oklahoma City Looks Mighty Pretty" The location is just east of the @ncwhm National Cowboy and Western Heritage Center near NE 63rd and MLK Boulevard.

Complete reworking of the May / NW Ex intersection will start next Tuesday and require 2 full years.

Preliminary work has started for the new OKC multi-purpose stadium, to be located south of Bricktown as part of a large mixed-use project. The official groundbreaking will take place on June 1st. The $108 million project will include capacity for 10,000 and is designed to handle future expansion. Projected completion is early 2028, at which time the OKC Energy soccer team (under a new name, likely OKC United per recent trademark filings) will resume operations. The facility will also host concerts, football, and other events.

Work has started on a large expansion of Chinatown Market at NW 27th and Classen in the Asian District of OKC . @asiandistrictok The existing structure of 22,755 square feet will more than double with a new 28,462 square foot addition. The Golden Phoenix restaurant will remain.

Plans are underway to open Oklahoma’s first La La Land Kind Cafe at Classen Curve, 5825 NW Grand near Western. They will be taking the space formerly occupied by Freebird shoes, an end location across from Upper Crust and Sur La Table. La La Land features coffee, tea, coolers, and various variations of avocado toast. They are known for their clean and bright aesthetic and their signature yellow color. The company is headquartered in Dallas.

Plans are underway for Brictown Brewery to open at the site of the former On The Border restaurant and NW Expressway and Lake Hefner Parkway. The brewery is also planning to take over the recently closed S&B Burger spot at 1000 NW 192nd, just east of Western. These would be the 22nd and 23rd locations for Bricktown Brewery, now operating in five states.

Continental Resources has secured 15-year naming rights for the new OKC arena and new home for the @okcthunder. Formal groundbreaking for the newly-named Continental Coliseum will be Thursday morning and the facility should be complete by the summer of 2028.

Ground will be broken next week for the new downtown arena. @okcthunder The old Myriad/Cox Center has now been completely removed and the new facility will be open in time for the 2028/29 NBA season. The renderings shown have been slightly updated to reflect the finished product.

The new clubhouse at Lake Hefner Golf opens today, 3/9. The 2nd level bar and restaurant will open before the end of the month. A 2nd phase will add a cart barn and event space at which time the existing clubhouse will be demolished.

Popular Millennium Lounge at 4709 N Western to expand to the old Mantel space at 201 E. Sheridan in @_Bricktown. Will feature large outdoor patio and live music.

The newly renovated Donnay Building at the Classen Circle complex has secured its first new tenant. 84 Hospitality Group (Empire Slice, Burger Punk, Goro, Elisabetta) is planning to open a cocktail bar and pizzeria called Coco’s Cocktail Club. To be located on the second level below the restored martini glass sign, facing Edna’s near the new Classen Grill. The 2-level former Hi-Lo space to the south is still for lease. The entire building has been transformed after decades of neglect.

Oklahoma's longest-running theatre company, Jewel Box Theatre, is set to open in a new home after its facility at the old First Christian Church was demolished. The new theater will be at NW 16th & Penn just west of the @plazadistrict. They hope to open later this year.

Work has started at the Legacy at Covell at I-35 and Covell in Edmond. Plans show Whole Foods Market, Shake Shack, Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, Chipotle, Texas Roadhouse, Ruth's Chris Steak House, Dick's, Petsmart, Pei Wei, First Watch, and more.

The new and expanded OKC Animal Shelter is well under construction at SE 29th and Bryant. The $42 million project is part of MAPS 4 and is being built directly adjacent to the existing facility. The new complex will be greatly expanded with a large, welcoming adoption center.
