In 2005, The Contingent took action to launch the Act Six scholarship to send underrepresented students to private colleges and universities.
In 2015, The Contingent took action to launch Emerging Leaders Internship—which is Oregon’s largest internship for college students of color.
In 2020, The Contingent took action to launch The Oregon Cares Fund to provide cash grants to Oregon’s Black community, which was disproportionally impacted by COVID-19
In 2021, The Contingent took action to launch SINE (Survival is Not Enough) to close the wealth gap in Oregon.
In August 2023, The Contingent will take action again, and we will be announcing another major investment to ensure the leaders of Oregon reflect the people who live here.
We respect the rules of our democracy, but we will not stop taking action to ensure communities of color experience increased social mobility. Oregon’s higher education ecosystem is a critical delivery system to getting that done.
Now is not a time to waver or fear.
Now is a time for action.
