Earlier this week, we took part in Neum Leadership Forum organised by
@UN_BiH @unwomenbih @UNFPABiH @UNDPBiH.
Addressing the Forum,
@oscebih Chief of Policy and Planning, Maja Handžiska Trendafilova, delivered a strong message of support for women assembly members, mayors, and political party leaders who face online harassment, threats, and abuse.
Political debate must be grounded in respect, dialogue, and open exchange of ideas rather than intimidation, hate speech, or violence. When women in politics are targeted through online abuse, hate speech, or incitement to violence, it not only harms individuals but also weakens democratic participation and the quality of public discourse. Such acts must be effectively addressed and sanctioned by the competent authorities.
The OSCE Mission to BiH reaffirms its commitment to promoting a political environment where all voices can participate freely and safely, and where respect, inclusion, accountability, and democratic dialogue prevail.
Women’s political participation is more than numbers.
At the Neum Forum on Political Leadership & Gender Equality, BiH, Montenegro & Serbia MPs discussed moving from representation to meaningful participation - through solidarity, safer spaces & action against online violence.
