According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), nearly 138 million children worldwide are engaged in child labour, many of whom are deprived of education and the chance to reach their full potential. Beyond its immediate effects, child labour weakens long-term development by limiting access to learning and reducing future opportunities for individuals and communities. On World Day Against Child Labour, attention remains on the need to strengthen access to education and ensure children are protected and supported to stay in school. Education remains one of the most effective pathways to breaking cycles of vulnerability and unlocking better futures. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive! #WorldDayAgainstChildLabour #EndChildLabour #EducationForAll #ChildRights #HumanCapitalDevelopment #OandoFoundation

Democracy is more than a system of government, it is the collective responsibility to build a society where every child is safe, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive. As we reflect on the promise of our democracy, we remain hopeful that every child can grow, learn, and contribute to a stronger Nigeria. Happy Democracy Day. #DemocracyDay #Nigeria #EducationForAll #YouthDevelopment #OandoFoundation

Young people are at the heart of transforming education, bringing fresh ideas and community driven solutions to some of the sector’s most pressing challenges.   Since 2023, Oando Foundation has partnered with @TeachForNigeria to support the Incubation Hub Program, a 3-month initiative designed to empower young social innovators and alumni-led ventures addressing various education challenges.   42 TFN alumni-led ventures have been empowered to date, through training, mentorship, and grants to strengthen and expand their impact. These ventures are now driving practical solutions across local communities in Nigeria, improving learning experiences and enabling more responsive approaches to education delivery.

Climate change is no longer a distant challenge, it is increasingly evident in rising temperatures, extreme weather conditions, and growing pressure on our ecosystems. As we mark World Environment Day, we recognize the importance of continued efforts in building a more sustainable future. Through environmental education, school-based sustainability initiatives, advocacy and green skills development, Oando Foundation is creating opportunities for young people in Nigeria to engage with environmental issues and contribute to positive change. Protecting our planet is a shared responsibility, and every action counts. #WorldEnvironmentDay #NowForClimate #OandoFoundation #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalEducation #Sustainability

Think of impact like a puzzle No single piece can complete the picture alone. That’s why partnerships matter.   Sustainable Development Goal 17 (SDG 17) highlights the importance of collaboration in solving global challenges and creating lasting impact.   Oando Foundation believes sustainable progress in education is only possible when governments, communities, development organizations, and the private sector work together.   Through partnerships, stronger education systems can be built, innovative solutions can scale, and more children can access quality learning opportunities across Nigeria.   Because meaningful change is never achieved alone.   #SDG17 #PartnershipsForTheGoals #EducationDevelopment #OandoFoundation

This Children's Day is a reminder of the fragility of childhood and the urgent responsibility we all share in protecting it. Every child deserves to learn in safety, free from fear, and supported by systems that safeguard their well-being. We stand in solidarity with affected families and reaffirm our commitment to support government's efforts in strengthening safe learning environments across schools. Happy Children's Day.

We have spent the last few days at the Basic Education in Nigeria Bootcamp (BEN-B) redefining what is possible through collective action.   The consensus is clear: strengthening our education system requires alignment, data-driven planning, and a deep commitment to learning outcomes. Thank you to our government partners and fellow stakeholders for the shared vision. We are ready to turn these commitments into measurable impact across the communities we serve.   The work continues. The future of our learners remain the priority.

By age 10, a child should transition from "learning to read" to "reading to learn." When foundational literacy and numeracy are missing, every other lesson becomes a mountain to climb.   We are moving beyond the metric of school attendance to focusing on actual learning outcomes. By strengthening early-grade education, we aren’t just improving test scores, we are building the foundation for a more literate, capable, and resilient Nigeria.   Foundational learning today. Transformation tomorrow.

What happens when girls step into AI and STEM? The future expands. This International Girls in ICT Day, themed “AI for Development: Girls Shaping the Digital Future”, celebrates girls who are not just engaging with technology, but redefining what it can do. At Oando Foundation, through our Digital Literacy and School STEAM projects, we are expanding access to digital learning opportunities that empower girls to build ideas, solve real-world problems, and step confidently into spaces where innovation thrives. Every skill gained contributes to a more inclusive, resilient, and forward-looking future. We remain committed to creating pathways for more girls to lead, innovate, and shape what comes next. #GirlsInICT #OandoFoundation #STEM #DigitalInclusion
