I hate that yugioh is the game that people have takes on despite having no real experience with it. I do not pass judgment publicly on games I do not know well, but I guess if you played for one year as an 8 year old it's fine.

yall are disconnected if you think rookie through silver is just structure deck duels. Mfs loading up K9 Vanquish soul, Yummy, and Dracotail on there. Dont get me wrong, youll run into some slop here and there, but you'll also run into meta too. A LOT.

Rating duels are great for this, but to play in them you already need to be in the top percentage of players. The rating duel system with placement games being the default ladder would be a way better way to match players of similar skill.

if you're a new player, you might get thrashed by meta few times, but you could very quickly be placed into an appropriate rank, and can learn and grow from there. literally every other game does this, I never understood why it wasn't done in MD or Duel Links.
