Dreaming of a greener Christmas this year?
Here are 10 practical tips for a more sustainable holiday season!
#SustainableChristmas
1. Choose a real tree from a sustainable source (FSC-certified) or rent one to replant. Even better: go potted and reuse yearly! Avoid single-use artificial ones unless you'll keep it for 10 years.
2. Decorate with nature – dried oranges, pinecones, or handmade ornaments from recycled materials. Skip glitter (it's microplastic pollution!).
3. Gifts: Buy second-hand, experiences, or quality items that last. Opt for Fairtrade, organic, or zero-waste options. Less stuff = less waste!
4. Wrap sustainably – use fabric bags, newspaper, or reusable cloth. Avoid shiny/glittery paper (hard to recycle).
5. Food: Plan meals to reduce waste, buy local/seasonal/organic, and go more plant-based. Compost scraps!
6. Crackers & cards: Choose recyclable/FSC ones, or make your own. Send e-cards to save paper.
7. Lights: Switch to LED strings – they use far less energy. Turn them off when not needed!
8. Avoid single-use plastics – use reusable plates, napkins, and decor.
9. Recycle your tree properly.
10. Focus on time with loved ones over stuff. Small changes make a big difference for the planet!
