MUST READ : XENOPHOBIA IN SOUTH AFRICA AND WHAT AFRICA NEEDS TO DO. Since everyone has fused it into football, I'll say my thoughts. The xenophobic attacks in South africa aren't done by all South africans, lots of us have friends from there and we know they wouldn't indulge in such. But people don't care at this point. To be honest, to some South africans who claim that Foreigners are taking their jobs, it would be better that other ways are used to send the illegal immigrants away if they're really bringing negative impacts on the society. Killing another person is never justifiable. Hundreds of Thousands of foreign nationals work in South africa legally and aren't facing any attacks. Most of the people attacking the illegal immigrants, drug dealers and illegal business owners claim their government is too corrupt to send them away, at this point I'll blame the SA Government for letting some radical citizens take laws into their own hands. South Africans had endured years of pain and toture and apartheid before gaining independence and I don't think they want to see their land and people taken advantage of again, but again, killing people or beating them up can't be the way. Two wrongs can't make a right. In the long run its impossible to think South Africa will thrive if every single nation on the continent turns against them. There will be consequences. SA is seen as the america of the anglophone black africans because of its economy, weather and high rate of development from the time the whites were in charge till date when competent black men have taken over, its such a well run country but when it becomes over populated, the actual citizens can't benefit from its enhanced economy and structure which other anglophone nations don't have because of corruption. My thoughts : The same way we're all revolting against The harsh ways most south africans treat illegal foreign nationals, we must also revolt against our own governments who have made us leave our homes and seek a new business life in SA. We must fight against our own corrupt governments as well and not fight the good South Africans who are peacefully asking illegal foreign nationals to leave. Their country is organized unlike some of our anglophone nations. Like Nigeria, we allow illegal immigrants from almost any African nation because we don't even have the structure to counter illegal immigration and some of these people cause havoc to the society. I'm an african football journalist. Since the age of 10 I've dreamt of traveling to different african nations to cover their football culture and i must tell you that south Africa is Africa's most important football nation in terms of development of talent and showing them to the world. I can tell you that the South African club I support, Orlando Pirates is a club that welcomes legal foreign nationals into the club and doesn't discriminate. I know how South Africans behave when you don't go around causing problems in their society because I have a good relationship with them. I had 50K Followers on my account that I had lost 6 months ago and 40K were south africans. I returned a week ago and I've already gotten 2000 south africans following me Because they know me. They Haven't said to themselves "He's Nigerian, we must not follow him". In conclusion : Not all South Africans engage in Xenophobia so I don't think it's wise to stereotype an entire nation based on the actions some irresponsible radicals. The world is watching us turn on each other. South Africa's oppressors are watching the entire continent hate the nation the once fought for liberation for. We are entertaining the white guys and they're having a good time. Africa is better than this. Let us come together and let love lead.
