It's Virgo season! I'm part of this cohort, so I tried to illustrate "the maiden" zodiac somewhat uniquely: as a shield maiden/knight, and as hands in the act of gardening or tending to flowers.
Still love the colour combo of my heart iron on patch. Am possibly going to restock the pin in this colour variant soon too. Which do you prefer, red or black?
Quick announcement! We have to move house, so the shop will be closed from the 24th of June until the 2nd of July. Deadlines for orders are as follows:
Domestic (Aus): 10am AEST Monday 24th of June
International: 12pm AEST Monday 24th of June
Been a while since I shared this angel and demon pair! I remember the shape of the demon silhouette being a bit of a challenge, but I like how it turned out. Funnily enough the angel is the more popular of the two, do you agree?
Some abandoned WIPs from long ago. Tbh I haven't been sketching much at all for the last year, burnout has been tricky to shake, and now I think it's also partly since I'm out of the habit of drawing regularly and business things take over. Hope to get back to drawing soon.
It's a busy month or so approaching! We are moving house (yay renting) and then I have two markets back to back, one of which is Finders Keepers Melbourne at the Royal Exhibition Building on July 12-14th!
The last cross stitch design to share is medusa! This was the second one I created and I just love the colour palette so much. It's actually really hard to match colours in the DMC thread range from a picture on a phone or tablet, but I got there in the end!
This was sitting as a WIP for ages until I saw a young kid and their dad riding a skateboard down the street where I live. It was such a striking image, I immediately changed the concept. I think the storytelling is much better in the new version, but what do you think?
Thanks for the great reception to my cross stitch kits! These were born from a bad burnout last year where I took up cross stitch as a hobby to get creative again. There are 5 designs all together, here are the 3 warrior rabbits which I translated to pixels with thread.
Cross stitch kits are here! Took a while to get the hang of photographing them, it's always a learning curve when there's new products added to the range. If all goes according to plan, they will be up and available through the link in my bio. Happy stitching! 🧵
Throwback Thursday to another retired pin, this swamp mermaid! I did really love her expression and design, would you want to see more spooky merms, or something else? Let me know 📣
Look who's back! To be fair, the black colourway of the axolotl pin has been sitting in my shelves for an embarrassingly long time, I just didn't have any good photos of the latest version. Fixed that now📸💖
My latest Major Arcana prints are now available. The Chariot had a major rework from my original concept, based on a father and daughter I saw riding a skateboard like this while I was walking. Maybe not the safest way to travel, but the kid looked like they were having a blast!
Heading into markets again soon and I thought it'd be fun to share my set-up from over the years. First two pics are from 2023 at Finders Keepers. Second is from 2019 Finders Keepers Sydney, and last pic is from my very first event in 2016! Adam has been a big help💖
These prints were originally painted by me with acrylic gouache. It was my first time using these paints and was a big shift from the endless re-activation time of traditional gouache paints. This series is retiring to make room for new things!
Big pins are fun to design! They allow for lots of extra details like the feathers on this Wedge-tailed Eagle, but can prove challenging to balance weight and volume. This pin is just over 2 inches, but doesn't feel unwieldy wearing it. Do you like bigger pins, or small ones?
i posted some new art earlier and wanted to breakdown separately a handful of moments where I actually attempted to "integrate AI into my workflow" and how every attempt to do so was less successful than just doing things normally. lets dive in!
finally finished some new art! check out Kinjirō the Ronin a character I designed and sculpted as a fun little personal project. I don't usually do character design in my work so wanted to push myself to give it a try for a new sculpt
The Pisces whale shark design is now also a patch! I think it suits the medium very nicely, and best of all there weren't a lot of tricky changes to be made in the translation from pin artwork to patch 😁
