Based on the District that I represent, @birthnbeautiful , has played a significant role in decreasing the infant mortality rates. They have trained more than 75 women as prenatal support professionals.

There is a significant amount of research that shows that black mothers are at a significant disadvantage. It is time for organizations and leaders to begin to use that data to implement support and resources, that will lower the rates of death among black mothers.

24 years ago when I had my last child these accommodations were not considered. I worked up to the day I delivered because only had a six-week length maternity leave. I felt it was more important to use those post postpartum. I shouldn't have had to choose!

Pregnancy and Postpartum Depression (PPD) is the #1 complication of childbirth, affecting nearly 1 million women in the U.S. each year. @POEM_Ohio provides peer support groups, education on PPD & related mood disorders, and information & referrals to local resources

This week, as we mark Black Maternal Health Week, here are some of the disparities Ohio Democrats are working to address:
- Black women are 3x more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than white women.
- Black women are more likely to have pregnancy-induced hypertension.
