The USFS announced a pathway for protection of old-growth forests. We are encouraged to see movement on this long-needed effort! The USFS is proposing an amendment to 128 natl forest plans that could add restrictions on logging in these critical areas.

We were north of the 45th parallel yesterday near Petoskey MI to dedicate Oden Island Preserve. It's full of fungi, sleeping logs, & all the nooks & crannies that make older forests so valuable. Thanks to Little Traverse Conservancy for their stewardship of this special forest

OGFN welcomed Beaver Lake/Herring Cove Trail in the Tongass National Forest yesterday. This is our 2nd forest in AK & it wouldn't have been possible without help from the Sitka Tribe of Alaska, Sitka Conservation Society, Visit Sitka, Tongass National Forest, & Sitka Trail Works.
