I attended the funeral of a friend this week. An incredibly kind, gentle, and fundamentally decent man. There was a huge turn out for his funeral of folks of all ages, who spoke of the positive impact he had had on them. Universally loved and respected.

When I think about how everyone viewed our friend and the qualities he possessed, it has really made me pause to think about what we as a society value and how we have lost sight of what really matters. Success isn't the car you drive, the clothes you wear or your job title.

It should be about the contribution you make to society, your family and your friendships. It should be more about the kindness and generosity of spirit, rather than your salary. Maybe then men can stop comparing themselves with unrealistic, unachievable metrics

A short clarification; Southampton haven't been fined £200m. Through their own actions, they have been prevented from competing for £200m. Middlesbrough and other clubs were prevented for competing for the £200m by Southampton's actions. We didn't choose this fight.

The final decision rests with the independent panel who looked at all available evidence and reached a fair and just opinion. They then considered the available sanctions and, given the persistent nature of the offences, prevented Saints from competing for the £200m.

You can argue about the severity of the judgement, but for the avoidance of any doubt, this is self inflicted. This isn't a Boro thing, this is a Southampton thing.
For the rational fans, I sympathise. For the mouth breathers, a little bit of self reflection would be appreciated

To all the decent Saints fans, I sympathise with you; let down by your leadership. But having pleaded guilty to multiple charges I guess there was little option. To the players who grafted so hard, I feel your pain, apart from Harwood-Bellis. He remains a turd.
