That’s a great question @clemzart. On the surface, miners may seem like middlemen but you can’t compare them to traditional middlemen since they have no control over the system. All they do is validate transactions on an open network. Anyone can become a miner as long as they meet certain requirements and their rewards are fair since it is based on their contribution. This is not the case with the exploiting control traditional middlemen have over the traditional system.
