AT&T's June 30 copper shutdown is almost here, and for businesses still relying on legacy copper POTS lines, the window to prepare is getting smaller. As carriers like AT&T continue accelerating copper retirement efforts, organizations using traditional POTS lines for fire alarms, elevator phones, security systems, fax machines, and emergency communications can no longer afford to treat modernization as a future project. Many businesses still don’t realize how much of their critical infrastructure depends on aging copper until they receive a shutdown notice, experience service disruption, or face compliance concerns. The reality is simple: copper retirement is no longer coming. It’s happening now. hubs.la/Q04kwbP00

A hospital elevator phone stops working during an emergency. A retail security alarm fails during an outage. A fire alarm panel is still running on aging copper infrastructure scheduled for retirement. These aren’t future problems. They’re happening now as carriers continue phasing out traditional copper networks across the U.S. During National Safety Month, it’s important for organizations to understand how many critical safety systems still rely on outdated communications infrastructure and how copper shutdown can directly impact safety, compliance, and business continuity.
