ON THIS DAY IN 1898, Paul Robeson was born.
ON THIS DAY IN 1939, opera singer Marian Anderson performed at the Lincoln Memorial after the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) barred her from singing in Washington D.C.'s Constitution Hall because she was Black.

Just for laughs, we figured we wait a few days to also note that White Supremacist Tom Metzger was also born on that day in 1938. He eventually became a fash carny act after the SPLC broke him and is largely forgotten today.
