๐จ MAJOR DEVELOPING STORY:
For years, Trump attacked the Obama administration for sending billions of dollars to Iran.
Now, negotiators are facing questions about reports that Iran could receive access to hundreds of billions in reconstruction funding under the new agreement.
When CBS asked Vice President J.D. Vance whether Iran could gain access to a reported $300 billion reconstruction fund, he did not reject the premise.
Instead, Vance responded:
โThatโs the sort of things they could have access to so long as they honor their end of the obligation.โ
Then came another potential contradiction.
Iranian state media is now claiming the agreement would recognize Iranian authority over the Strait of Hormuz and eventually allow Tehran to collect shipping โservice feesโ after a temporary waiver period.
Trump, meanwhile, has described the Straitโs reopening as effectively toll-free.
If Iranโs description is accurate, Tehran could gain both massive reconstruction funding and a new long-term revenue stream from one of the worldโs most important shipping lanes.
