Nigeria secured $242.9 million in new international financing for its flagship off-grid solar program last week, a cash injection that accelerates one of sub-Saharan Africa's most ambitious rural electrification drives as the country battles an electricity deficit that has shackled economic growth for decades. The World Bank disclosed the funding package in a June 10 implementation report, confirming that negotiations over the additional financing for the Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-up project, known as DARES, concluded with the Federal Government of Nigeria on June 4.

This is great from the government. I believe the private sector also can key into this initiative.
VIDEO NEWS: For the first time on such a scale in Nigeria, hundreds of Nigerian Army personnel, widows of fallen heroes, and injured soldiers are set to benefit from a massive 1,550-unit post-service housing scheme taking shape in Jibi along the Abuja-Niger State boundary. According to the Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority, the estate is the largest military post-service housing scheme ever undertaken in Nigeria, reflecting the FG’s commitment to improving the welfare of soldiers and their families.

Going by the flexible repayment plan of this loan, I do not think any Western-backed loan facilities will ever give an African country this much flexibility in repaying the loans collected from them. The IMF warning Nigeria of this loan should be considered a green light to go ahead with the loan. IMF will always kick against alternative loan options for Africa because they are very much aware of how these new loan facilities will expose why their fraudulent loan facilities are not good for Africa.
Nigeria plans to raise $5 billion through a total return swap deal with the First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), the United Arab Emirates' largest lender. The complex derivative agreement allows Nigeria to access capital at a lower cost than traditional eurobonds by pledging local naira-denominated securities as collateral. The loan facility spans 6 years, which includes annual rollover options and a 3-year mutual break clause. The capital is intended to finance the 2026 budget deficit, fund infrastructure like roads and ports, and refinance more expensive existing debt.

The Federal Government may begin paying salaries, pensions and social welfare benefits through the eNaira under a new Central Bank of Nigeria roadmap aimed at transforming the country’s digital currency into a major payment channel. The proposal is contained in the Nigeria Payments System Vision 2028, released by the CBN, which outlines plans to expand the use of the eNaira and move it from a pilot project to a core payment rail for government and private-sector transactions. The eNaira, launched in October 2021 as Africa’s first central bank digital currency, was introduced to deepen financial inclusion, reduce the cost of transactions and remittances, and promote a cashless economy. However, adoption has remained relatively low despite years of regulatory support.

There's nothing absolutely nothing that shows this man will make a good leader. He taks against the system. Is he implying the judiciary was wrong for sending his brother Kanu to prison? It is so irritating listening to him speak.

We don’t need him in Oyo state. He should go to Edo state forest. Did they not just close down schools in Edo state because of a potential attack ?. He is more useful in Edo state.

You are not the president yet but you are already saying you will release criminals. We need to remind ourselves that Nnamdi Kanu was duly convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction

"I have said this over and over again, there is no reason for detaining Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. You cannot arrest somebody just because the person is speaking on radio. I am a politician, people have been calling me names. If I am in government today, I will discuss and engage with all agitators.” -Mr. Peter Obi, NDC presidential candidate on his recent visit to Washington, D.C.

Chai, this is a very difficult job. πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ
A lot of people tend to forget that Peter Obi like most Governors during his time had to deal with a global recession. Many governments, states, and companies borrowed money to maintain infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic activity. During that period, borrowing was often a tool of fiscal management rather than a sign of failure. Obi governed through part of that difficult economic period. If Anambra carried debt, the relevant question is whether the debt was excessive and whether the state’s finances remained healthy.

I have met a lot of people that voted Peter Obi the last time and will be voting PBAT next year. I have also met a lot of people that voted Peter Obi last time but will sit out this election because Peter Obi hasn’t been as inspiring as he was in 2023 and they do not consider the alternatives as better. I haven’t met a single PBAT supporter that is now supporting Peter Obi or any other candidate( this is my reality) I believe this administration hasn’t lived up to certain hype but I cannot deny that it’s been reform minded. Helping correct structural issues that have plagued this country far too long. For example, the recent passage of the state policing bill is by no means a mean feat. That this administration makes it look easy or don’t blow their trumpet so loudly does not diminish the huge significance of the bill and the tireless work that they put into it. The implementation of the Nigeria Payments System Vision 2028 ( championed by CBN) is another policy that has gone under the radar(I believe we should all read about the policy) . This is one policy that will revolutionize our financial system for good. One that will birth several financial innovation and products. There is no eradication of poverty without financial inclusion and it appears CBN is on an articulated agenda towards a sustainable path. For some of us, there are enough reasons to stick around this current administration. The alternatives aren’t as inspiring and simply do not have what it takes to out perform this current administration.
