It's not enough to remember. If we don't apply the lessons of our grandparents to today's emerging realities, we doom our children to live through the same horrors as they did. youtube.com/watch?v=PNpAOo3f…

Where it all began: my first pitch for @TheBoysTV eleven years ago. Since then, hundreds of actors, thousands of crew, and millions of viewers embraced this insane idea. I'm grateful beyond words, and proud that all these years later, we stayed true to this mission statement. #FYC #TheBoys @PrimeVideo

The Ford government is escalating its fight to cancel all summer meetings of the committee responsible for vetting PC appointees to provincial agencies & boards, now taking the dispute to the Speaker. Critics say it’s “astonishing the lengths they’ll go to not be held accountable.” But the government argues historically, this committee has never met during breaks.

The most significant challenges facing modern institutions are not failures of execution but failures of diagnosis, and improving diagnosis requires democratizing the flow of information from the people and systems closest to the problem.

Iran’s Mehr news agency publishes the purported text of the draft agreement with Trump. It will keep the Strait of Hormuz under Iranian control, will promise Iran $300 billion in reconstruction money in addition to an immediate cash transfer of $24 billion, a suspension of sanctions and the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the Middle East. Also, a commitment not to bother Iran again about its missiles and proxies, and restraining Israel in Lebanon. The U.S. gets in exchange a pinky promise to respect the NPT. Let’s see what happens in coming days. Link: mehrnews.com/news/6857718 Full text: A permanent and immediate cessation of war on all fronts, including Lebanon. A U.S. commitment not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs and to respect the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Full lifting of the naval blockade within 30 days. A U.S. commitment to withdraw its forces from areas surrounding Iran. Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days under arrangements determined by Iran. Suspension of sanctions on the sale of oil, petrochemical products, and related derivatives, along with full Iranian access to the resulting financial revenues. The United States and its allies would be required to present reconstruction plans for Iran worth at least $300 billion. A 60-day negotiation period aimed at reaching a final agreement covering nuclear issues and the complete removal of U.S. primary and secondary sanctions, as well as the repeal of relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council and the IAEA Board of Governors. Reaffirmation by Iran of its commitment under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) not to produce nuclear weapons. During the negotiation period, the United States would commit not to deploy additional forces to the region and not to impose any new sanctions. The release of $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets during the 60-day final negotiation period. Half of this amount must be made available to Iran before negotiations begin. Establishment of a monitoring mechanism to oversee implementation of the agreement. The final agreement would be approved through a UN Security Council resolution. Final negotiations would not begin before the release of half of Iran’s frozen assets, the suspension of oil sanctions, and the lifting of the naval blockade. The final agreement would focus exclusively on the future of enriched nuclear material and uranium enrichment, sanctions relief, and a program for rebuilding Iran’s economy. Discussion of Iran’s missile program and its support for resistance groups would be definitively excluded from the agenda. As stated by the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, this text still requires review and final approval by the relevant authorities in Iran.

It is crazy that it is a legitimate possibility that the President of the United States is reigniting hostilities with Iran to distract from his Nipplegate. Historians are going to have a titillating time with this era. youtube.com/live/6jLwYGLBGsw…

Fascinating. Voting, vaccines… the things that have strengthened society and evened the playing field under attack by some of those who have benefited from them. youtu.be/TSz1txJEyv8

Trump: I am hereby calling on Republicans in Congress to IMMEDIATELY advance and pass the forthcoming $350 Billion Reconciliation Bill (Recon 3.0) - which, at the request of our Great Department of War — will include THE SAVE AMERICA ACT as well. No games, no delays, and no weak compromises! Do this ASAP. This is a GENERATIONAL Investment in our Military, even bigger than President Reagan's! Recon 3.0 is the ONLY path to the full $1.5 TRILLION DOLLAR Military Budget our Warriors need in order to build THE ARSENAL OF FREEDOM. We will defend the Homeland with the Golden Dome, launch the unstoppable Golden Fleet, dominate the skies with the F-47 and B-21, supercharge our ammunition stockpiles, and achieve total Space Force and Drone Dominance! This Budget reignites American Industry, creates hundreds of thousands of high-paying American Jobs, and secures our Global Dominance without fueling Inflation. Also, with THE SAVE AMERICA ACT, it will protect our Elections for Generations to come. Our Warriors protect our most Sacred Rights, and Voting is at the top. Time to defend that Right for every American!

I find all the discussion and controversy around transhumaniam fascinating. That’s what community, society, words, tools have always been. We’ve been extra humaning for millennia. And we aren’t even the only species doing it.

We are going to see a lot of this: people using the referendum campaign to promote their own agendas; campaigning for a "united Canada" on the basis that their preferred remedies for "addressing separatist concerns" are adopted. And if they are not? The premise of all of this "pro-Canada" campaigning (see also: Danielle Smith) is that Canada has to prove itself to be worthy of saving -- that one of the most successful countries in the history of the world has to beg for the right to exist. That may be many things but it's not pro-Canada. Alberta independence: Poilievre campaigns to keep province in Canada ctvnews.ca/politics/article/…

Historical precedent suggests that #AI is not an endpoint of human cognitive labour, but a continuation of its externalization. Across every major information technology transition, the direction of change has been consistent: craigce.substack.com/p/ai-in…

Or, we might need less of a banana republic type of leader to get back to what really matters and what will make a difference tomorrow for ALL of us folks.
Premier Doug Ford says other North American leaders “think it’s a joke” that Ontario doesn’t have a dedicated government jet. He made the comment Thursday while defending his use of chartered flights from Toronto to Ottawa, arguing that flying commercially can consume an entire workday. “We’ve got to stop treating Ontario like a banana republic, because that’s what it’s being treated like,” he said. Popok: I am troubled by how many people are willing to endanger their law licenses in the service of Tump. Is it the proximity to power? Luttig: It’s proximity to Trump. Those lawyers watch Trump every single day calling the judges and the federal courts corrupt. If the president is calling the judges corrupt and you represent the president, then that’s your mindset, and that’s what’s going on.
