If this is true, at some point in the near future, most of these producers will collude, take their hands off the wheel, and let the West burn all of their inventories down and just wait for Trump to capitulate fully. Everyone but the Middle East emerges stronger, and secure relevance for decades.

For him to change and then lob a few bombs ("defensive strikes"), to try gain leverage must mean the original terms were politically unpalatable. He'll likely get lambasted for it by his base.
