Nigeria gave up so much for South Africa during apartheid. We funded the ANC. We boycotted. We sacrificed athletes, money, diplomatic capital.
Nigerian citizens were taxed to fund the liberation struggle. And the thank you
we received decades later was our people being hacked and their shops burned in xenophobic attacks.
So when South Africa walked out at the World Cup Africa remembered. Memory is the one thing you cannot loot.
