There’s a lot going on in the background, but I’m really pleased with my output this year. Getting more confident and doing a big range of scales. Plus a full figure sculpt as well.
Yesterday I did a one day painting class with the great Erik Swinson on The importance of value. I’ve never done a painting class before.
It was hot, the paint dried quickly, but this is what I achieved. Much learnt and much to put into practice still.

Quickest mini I’ve ever painted. Maybe 4 - 5 hours.
Warhammer Cryptguard - mini of the month.
Used Mindwork Heavy Body acrylics. 5 colours black and white. Fun mixing and experimenting.
I painted this dude - Ben Hook!
He’s 54mm, and he’s a character from a forthcoming 1 on 1 duelling game called John Blanche’s En Garde - yes, that John Blanche. It’s coming to Kickstarter.
He’s sculpted by the brilliant @PaulHic80466580

Pop Will Eat Itself: Can U Dig It? (1989). "Alan Moore knows the score."
The 'Stourbridge Scene' was dubbed Grebo by the NME, with bands like The Wonder Stuff, Ned's Atomic Dustbin and Pop Will Eat Itself lumped together under a kind of indie-electro-funk-rock-psychedelia tag. That's slightly unfair as PWEI has a pretty wide range of sounds and an impressive back catalogue of tunes.
Can U Dig It? may not have troubled the charts much, but every student bar in '89 would have it on the jukebox. Woe betide you if you didn't know every name dropped in the song!
Two Christopher Walkens have a birthday today, and both are legends: the hilarious shuffle-king who somehow sneaks a dance into almost every movie, and the ice-cold intensity machine who hasn’t killed a man since 1984.
Let’s start with the dancing one...

More photos. Found inspiration for his simple base from a photo of the 5th AD. One of the officers looked a bit like our Tamiya chap (B&W photos included in thread)

The original photo and the cropped one to show the figure. Given he difference in value I suspect he’s in brown wool trousers, but I’d painted the uniform before seeing the photos.

Started this guy 3 years ago, finally got round to finish him.
Very happy with how he came out.
