I recently had the opportunity to tour the Washington State Capitol building. It's an incredible place. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it is my favorite state Capitol I have been to. With that being said, I was saddened to hear that the Legislature recently voted to remove Marcus Whittman's statue from the grounds. Growing up, Whittman was regarded as a hero, a trailblazing voice for spreading the word of God in the early American West. He was one of Oregon Country's most fabled Pioneers.
It's sad to see, no matter where you are in the country, our heroes continually have their statues removed. Progressive legislative bodies continually seek to erase our history. I pray that we soon may reconnect with our roots, especially here in the PNW.π¦β¬οΈπ©
