It's a little known fact that back in the old days #Orkney horses were masters of disguise and could easily blend into their surroundings. You might not believe this but there is a horse standing in this photograph. LIKE if you think you see it. RT if you DEFINITELY see it.

Today we are wishing a Happy Birthday to Maurice Sendak, who was born #onthisdate in 1928. If you've not read Where The Wild Things Are, read it today. Or if you've not read it for a while, read it today. And then let the wild rumpus start.

If you've never read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd then this is a great month to read it - published 100 years ago in June 1926! Of all the many brilliant books Agatha Christie wrote, Roger Ackroyd is considered one of her masterpieces so it is well worth a read. 🔍

Today is #WorldEnvironmentDay so we're taking back all the books that people have read, putting them onto shelves for people to look at, then giving them out again to other people who haven't read them yet. For free. What a system. ❤️ #LoveLibraries #GreenLibraries ♻️

Stromness was like a velodrome back in the day. This photograph of cyclists in Dundas Street was taken more than a hundred years ago by #Orkney photographer Tom Kent. It hasn't really changed much. 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️
