I have three PhD studentships available currently through the MIBTP DTP warwick.ac.uk/fac/cross_fa... on different aspects of the respiratory microbiome, interaction with mucin with @LucyICM the resistome with @mmcbuckner and pathobionts with @Bacterioskeptic
PhD projects now open in Birmingham as part of @MIBTP_BBSRC - funded and open to home and overseas students! Are you interested in bioprocesses, antimicrobial resistance, virulence, or biofilms?
New paper! What happens when you apply vibration to bacteria? We asked this question for E. coli and revealed that attachment decreases. This response requires live cells and involves membrane potential.

๐ข We are hiring! ๐ฃ A 15-month research fellow position, working with myself, @Overtonlab and Jayne Lawrence looking at liposome interactions with the bacterial cell envelope. Thanks to @PRC_Heidelberg for funding. Come join us! jobs.ac.uk/job/DJS237/researโฆ
New paper! Deactivating efflux pumps results in major changes to bacterial physiology. We demonstrate that knockout of the major efflux pump AcrB results in changes to membrane potential.

This project was loads of fun and a real team effort - thanks to @emilywhittle17, @Horabz, Alex, Pauline and
@SJElement - @JessicaMABlair and I are looking forward to continuing the story!
Huge congratulations to Alex for passing his PhD viva! A great project on different aspects of recombinant protein production from molecular interactions to bioreactors. Big thanks to Neil Dixon and @PatriPEsteban for examining!
