Is it just a headache? When to check if it’s something more.🤕
Most of us get headaches from time to time, but how do you know if it’s something serious? Certain symptoms can indicate an underlying condition that may require medical evaluation, and it’s important to listen to the signals that could be telling you to seek help. Be on the lookout for:
• A headache that starts sharply and suddenly or one that is an unusual pattern for you (e.g., new location, severity, or frequency).
• An unusually severe headache or a headache that increases with coughing, sneezing, or movement.
• Headache with fever, stiff neck, confusion, decreased alertness, memory problems, visual impairment, slurred speech, weakness, numbness, or seizures.
• Headache after head injury, especially if accompanied by dizziness, vomiting, or loss of consciousness.
If you have any of these warning signs, contact your healthcare provider or go to an urgent care or emergency department to help rule out serious causes like stroke, infection, or tumor, and ensure you get the appropriate care.
