When toenail fungus starts to slow you down, rushing into an "overnight cure" or DIY remedy can allow the infection to spread deep beneath the nail surface.🤢 Home remedies for toenail fungus—like soaking your feet in apple cider vinegar, applying tea tree oil, or putting Vicks VapoRub on the nail— cannot reach deep enough beneath the nail surface to effectively treat the fungus. #EmployeeSpotlight: Meet Tara, a registered nurse at the PIH Health Women’s Center La Mirada.💙 With 13 years at PIH Health, Tara says that the most rewarding part of her job are the lasting relationships she builds with obstetrics patients as she supports them through pregnancy and motherhood. “I have been in this department for more than 5 years, and during that time I’ve had the privilege of caring for some patients through three pregnancies,” shares Tara. “Seeing those relationships continue to grow over the years has been incredibly meaningful.” Tara says the teamwork and support within her department make PIH Health feel like family. “We care for women during some of the most vulnerable and important moments in their lives, which is why we are committed to always putting our patients first and ensuring they feel safe, supported, and compassionately cared for,” says Tara. Outside of work, Tara is a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and loves spending time with her 2 1/2-year-old grandson, who she calls “the light of my life.” Thank you, Tara, for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to our patients and community! 👏

Is it just a headache? When to check if it’s something more.🤕 Most of us get headaches from time to time, but how do you know if it’s something serious? Certain symptoms can indicate an underlying condition that may require medical evaluation, and it’s important to listen to the signals that could be telling you to seek help. Be on the lookout for: • A headache that starts sharply and suddenly or one that is an unusual pattern for you (e.g., new location, severity, or frequency). • An unusually severe headache or a headache that increases with coughing, sneezing, or movement. • Headache with fever, stiff neck, confusion, decreased alertness, memory problems, visual impairment, slurred speech, weakness, numbness, or seizures. • Headache after head injury, especially if accompanied by dizziness, vomiting, or loss of consciousness. If you have any of these warning signs, contact your healthcare provider or go to an urgent care or emergency department to help rule out serious causes like stroke, infection, or tumor, and ensure you get the appropriate care.

Cardiac arrest is a sudden medical emergency where the heart stops pumping blood to the brain and vital organs. In these moments, CPR helps keep blood and oxygen circulating until emergency responders arrive. ❤️ Hands-only CPR is simple: call 911, then place hands in the center of the chest, and push hard and fast (100–120 compressions per minute) until help arrives. Even imperfect CPR is better than no action at all. Immediate bystander response can save lives. Read what actually happens during CPR and why you shouldn’t be afraid to help at PIHHealth.org/Blog.
