Representatives of the Council of the Baltic Sea States met in Sopot for the 23rd Ministerial Session: 🇩🇰 🇪🇪 🇫🇮 🇩🇪 🇮🇸 🇱🇻 🇱🇹 🇳🇴 🇵🇱 🇸🇪 and 🇪🇺. 💬 Discussions focused on security issues in the Baltic Sea region, including hybrid threats, acts of sabotage and destabilizing activities. ➡️ Participants also addressed the ongoing reform of the CBSS, cooperation with the Baltic Sea Region Youth Forum, the priorities of Iceland’s Presidency and the situation in Ukraine.

The identity of the Baltic Sea Region is shaped by people - especially the younger generation, which is becoming increasingly engaged in cross-border cooperation. 🤝🏻 Within the Council of the Baltic Sea States, young people actively contribute to cooperation aimed at strengthening a shared regional identity. Their experiences, ideas and engagement help policymakers develop responses to the challenges facing the region. They also formulate recommendations presented to Foreign Ministers during Ministerial Sessions. Young people are helping shape the future of the region through initiatives such as the Baltic Sea Region Youth Forum, Baltic Sea Youth Dialogue, Youth Hackathons, youth working groups and the Baltic Sea Youth Camp. ⤵️ 💡 Within the CBSS, the voices of young people play an important role in discussions on security, culture, societal resilience, media and the future of the Baltic Sea Region. This engagement ensures that regional cooperation goes beyond institutions and politics. It becomes a shared experience that strengthens the sense of belonging, responsibility and cooperation across borders.

Glad to meet with Steen Andersen and Anna Werenberg to discuss their research on Warsaw Pact plans that included a potential invasion of Denmark by the Polish army during the Cold War. Good these plans never materialized, and today we strengthen European security together. 🇵🇱🇩🇰

🌊 The countries of the Baltic Sea region are united by a shared history, culture and maritime traditions. The Polish Presidency is strengthening these ties by promoting international co-operation aimed at protecting cultural heritage and supporting innovative cultural initiatives ➡️ an important element in strengthening regional resilience. Particular importance is attached to cultural and maritime heritage — its identification, protection and inclusion in spatial planning ➡️ all of which are key elements of the region’s responsible development. The Polish Presidency also supports the active participation of young people in regional co-operation, including through support for the Baltic Sea Region Youth Forum. Such initiatives show that the future of the Baltic Sea is being shaped jointly by different generations. 🤝🏻

“Russia is conducting destabilizing activities in the Baltic Sea region,” said Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski [@sikorskiradek]. In his speech at the International Maritime Congress in Szczecin, Poland, he also highlighted Russia’s subversive actions, including attacks on underwater infrastructure or the jamming of GPS signals.

On the anniversary of the Constitution of 3 May 1791, we hosted a reception for 🇩🇰 officials, members of the diplomatic corps, the 🇵🇱 community and our Danish partners. We were also honoured to welcome the crew of ORP Piast. ⚓️
