Halfway through Day 1 of Ag Media Summit! Glad to be part of the @adfarm team attending this year, meeting and learning from some very smart folks in agriculture.

The last couple of days have been horrible for Canadian journalism. Thinking of the journalists who lost their jobs at Global News and Bell Media and the communities across Canada that lost local news coverage, which is an important lifeline in many areas outside of major cities.

Last week I got the opportunity to visit our @adfarm Kansas City office to meet with clients as well as some team members that I had only met online. The visit was topped off with the office family barbecue (with delicious dishes from the team). Look at this amazing rooftop view.

Google is trending in Canada. It was one of the first social media platforms I managed for clients (along with Twitter). I didn't like it then, and I didn't think it was particularly effective, so I don't know what everyone is remembering so fondly about it 🤔

Oof. Unbelievable how the media industry, especially in Canada, has changed in the 10 years since I graduated from journalism school.

Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. #DYK that trans and gender non conforming people are twice as likely to experience severe poverty and homelessness compared with the general population. enoughforall.ca/articles/tra…

This is happening in our province. Many people you know might struggle to get through the day due to low literacy. Here are the facts, Alberta. #leftunread
Did you know almost half of working-age Albertans do not have the literacy skills required to perform most jobs in today’s economy reliably and consistently? This report from @CanadaWestFdn is worth the read. cwf.ca/research/publications…

Awful news for Canadian journalism.

Postmedia is announcing in a town hall it's cutting 11% of its editorial staff. All properties will be affected by layoffs or restructuring, said Gerry Nott, acting senior vice president, editorial content.

Did you know? A lack of funding in the #nonprofit sector will affect three in 10, or more than 1.25 million Albertans over the next six months. Nonprofits are essential. Join the call for immediate relief for Alberta's nonprofits at thenonprofitvote.ca/essentia…! #tooessentialtofail

It was a privilege to listen to @GGCanada deliver the @inclusion_ca LaFontaine-Baldwin Lecture, with many Elders in the room, including Elder Dr. Reg and Elder Rose Crowshoe. An especially profound experience for me as an immigrant Canadian. Thankful to @UnitedWayCgy for the opp.
Last night, #GGSimon delivered the 19th annual LaFontaine-Baldwin Lecture, which explored how newcomers to Canada can participate in and better understand reconciliation. To read her full remarks, visit: ow.ly/uqE950L4yEA

Today marks Sisters in Spirit Day honouring the memory of the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls across Canada. We remember them and are thinking of their families and loved ones on this day and always 🧡🪶 #mmiwg #nomorestolensisters
